(1) The mayor may appoint the hearing examiner, subject to confirmation by majority vote of the city council.

(2) The mayor may also appoint one or more hearing examiners pro tem, subject to confirmation by majority vote of the city council, who may serve in the event of absence or disqualification of the hearing examiner.

(3) The terms of service of the hearing examiner or hearing examiner pro tem must be specified by a professional service contract. (Ord. 1513 § 1 (Exh. A), 2023).
