(1) The provisions of this section apply to each of the city officers and department directors named in this chapter unless otherwise provided.

(2) The city officers and department directors named in this chapter are appointed by the mayor and do not require council confirmation.

(3) Each of the city officers and department directors named in this chapter may be removed by the mayor for any lawful reason.

(4) Each of the officers and department directors named in this chapter must be paid either the salary annually fixed by the city council or other compensation as described in a relevant interlocal agreement or personal services agreement.

(5) Each of the officers and department directors named in this chapter is responsible to the director of finance to authenticate and certify any claims for services rendered for performance of labor.

(6) Per RCW 35A.12.080, the clerk, treasurer, and chief of police must annually provide an official bond conditioned on the honest and faithful performance of their official duties. Compliance with the provisions of the bond is an essential qualification for the position. (Ord. 1513 § 1 (Exh. A), 2023).
