The purpose of the master plan overlay is to ensure early coordination and planning for certain key areas. Commercial areas that provide gateways to the city of Stanwood are particularly important to the city’s image and future development. The intent of the overlay is to provide for an early planning process that guarantees appropriate development under the intent and regulations of the underlying zoning district as defined in the city’s Comprehensive Plan and the city’s zoning code.
